What Life is Really All About

By Brian Mburu Maina - April 05, 2018

Do you know that feeling when smiling is the hardest thing to do? Or when you're so happy it seems like the world is the most perfect place? Or when the frown on your face is nowhere near upside down? Or how about when laughing becomes contagious throughout the room? Believe it or not, we've all experienced these feelings; good and bad. At times, they may get a little out of hand, and that is why we need to understand them. By understanding what life is all about we are actually able to live in the moment and enjoy it to the fullest.

Let me break down life into two simple parts:
i) The Good Times and

ii) The Bad Times
You're probably saying, ''Oh! Really? Like I didn't already know that."
Maybe you knew that much but it's much more complicated than it seems. It takes much more understanding than you think.

But here's the thing, if you actually start grouping life experiences, all you'll do is tangle up life. It'll make you start to judge your life based on the number of good and bad experiences. If there are more good than bad occurrences then you know you've got the best life ever, right? Wrong!

Here's the thing, what about if the bad outmatched the good? Then what? From you own judgement, your life seems to be the worst. This is the time when you start comparing yourself to others; the time when you wish you were someone else. In the end you develop uncontrollable  hatred for yourself.

Then what should you do? Well, simple: JUST ENJOY LIFE! Take life as it comes and keep in mind that all things that happen come along with a lesson. And if there is a time when you begin re-grouping these events, just concentrate on the lesson learnt. Trust me, it works.

After you understand this much, you should ask yourself: What is life really all about?

I can't give you an answer to that. That is for you to discover. But I can give you a rough idea of what I THINK life is all about.

1. Life is all about taking risks.
2. Life is all about understanding that you can't function alone.
3. Life is all about helping others.
4. Life is all about accepting the truth (even when it hurts).
5. Life is all about not regretting being who you are (you are the only you).
6. Life is all about taking on new challenges.
7. Life is all about getting back up even when you fail.
8. Life is all about having fun.
9. Life is all about meeting new people.
10. Most importantly, life is all about loving yourself.
